Industry leader in state of the art fraud prevention, Emailage, brought together more than 200 fraud professionals across multiple industries at their signature event, Connect 2019, to share success stories and look to the future of fraud prevention.
Emailage, a leading provider of online fraud prevention and risk assessment technology, gathered global industry experts to discuss data security and the rise of online fraud in São Paulo, Brazil on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. The event was attended by more than 200 professionals from across the globe representing leading companies who were eager to share their success stories and best practices for mitigating risks and fighting fraud.
According to a recent survey, Brazilian e-commerce grew 12% earning $53.2 billion in 2018, with a forecasted growth of 15% for 2019. Last year, 58 million consumers made at least one purchase over the internet, 10 million of whom were buying online for the first time. While the news is good for retailers, there is a darker side to rapid growth. “As eCommerce and digital payments grow, fraud tends to increase and fraudsters are forced to become more sophisticated to be profitable,” explains Luciana Lello, Emailage General Manager for Latin America.
During the event, Emailage’s co-founder and Chief Product Officer (CPO) Amador Testa shared his insights on the reality of the online fraud market in Brazil and around the world today, the impact fraud prevention technology is having, and his predictions for future fraud trends.
“We believe we can make a difference in the world by bringing people together to fight fraud and crimes associated with it. Our technology, backed by a consortium of shared fraud data from organizations around the world, plays a critical role in securing transactions and stopping crime rings that start with fraud,” says Testa.
In celebration of the diverse set of users in attendance at the conference, the Emailage team gave out several awards. These awards recognized contributions to the data network that is crucial to the Emailage’s fraud-fighting solutions, such as Most Fraud Data Shared and Most Shared Variables.
The festivities started with a welcome cocktail the night before the event. The day of the event included panel discussions from industry experts, the sharing of success stories, a look into fraud from a real-life hacker and lunch at the exclusive rooftop restaurant, The Seen. The networking fun continued with a post-show cocktail reception.
“The energy was truly electric. Everyone was eager to share their success stories and best practices. There was a line to give a personal testimonial about the victories they’ve had with Emailage throughout the entire show. It was incredible, and I’m privileged to have been part of the event,” said Tim White, Chief Partnership Officer for Emailage.
At a global level, Emailage analyzed $180 billion in customer transactions in 2018, resulting in 40 million transactions deemed high risk and approximately $2.8 billion in fraud prevented last year.
“It is an honor to hold our largest user conference ever in my home country. It was impossible not to feel awestruck with so many impressive companies in attendance,” says Testa. “This proved once again that our customers are truly our partners and our most valuable asset,” he adds.
